The recent Millstreet International Horse Trials proved to be a happy hunting ground for the team. This event just goes from strength to strength and there is very few events worldwide with a more beautiful cross country. The permanent stabling and perfect all weather surfaces for the dressage and jumping just add value to the horses performances.

It was a case of so close in the CCI as Darius finished runner up and Havanna vant Casteanenhof was just behind him in overall 3rd. She had lead going in to the sj but she is still only 10 years old and a bit green so I hope that this phase will develop to be a strong as the first two phases in time.

Darius was the only horse to finish on their dressage score and really exceeded expextation the whole weekend. He galloped right to the finish and felt as though he could have easily gone on further. He jumped an immaculate clear round show jumping to just miss victory by half a point.

Dassett Courage and Leo Distinction had a pre Blenheim blow out in the CIC** and both went well to finish 13th and 16th in a large class. Dassett Courage has come back to international competition well after a long period of rehab and I am looking forward to stepping him back up to 3 star next time in the Event Riders Masters at Blenheim.

Perhaps the most pleasing aspect of the weekend was the improvement in Leo Distinction's dressage. He seems to finally be relaxing in the phase and gaining confidence. His work was much softer. Having gained some advantage after dressage, we did however just hand it staright back by having the very last fence down show jumping. Oh well, win some loss some!!
