NZ victory in Nations Cup at Boekelo

It was a great finish to the season with a fun trip to Boekelo as part of the New Zealand team that contested the final Nations Cup of the year, made even better with victory.

As trail blazer for the team, Havanna did a great job in all 3 phases and really consolidated her good form from Millstreet. Although slightly owerawed by the razzamatazz and atmosphere on cross country she stayed focussed on her lines and jumped boldly. It was just hard to rush her against the clock. I will certainly miss this mare if she returns to Lizzie next season as she is certainly ready to step up to 4 star. My loss will be Lizzie's gain however, I have been grateful for the opportunity to compete Havanna and wish them every success in the future.

Much was made of the collective ages of the NZ riders on the team (apparently almost double of some others!!) we were mounted on the youngest team of horses and the future bodes well for all of them.

It's back to NZ for me now to undertake some teaching and get a short bit of R and R, but I am already looking forward to being reunited with the horses in mid January, to begin the build up towards an important year that includes the World Equestrian Games in Tryon, USA.
